KGaA, Munich (www.mutares.com), as a listed private equity holding company, acquires medium-sized companies in special situations, based in Europe, which show significant operational improvement potential and are sold again after undergoing a repositioning and stabilization process. Mutares actively support its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams and through strategic add-on acquisitions. The focus is on companies with revenues of EUR 100 million to EUR 750 million from the following segments: Automotive & Mobility, Engineering & Technology, Goods & Services and Retail & Food. The aim is to achieve a clear value increase with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of the portfolio company.

Within our OPS team, we are looking to hire a leader who has a successful track record in Commerical Excellence with a continuous improvement attitude and an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will be located at portfolio companies, on site across Europe.

Your Tasks
  • Support our portfolio companies in improving their Sales and Marketing organization
  • Diagnose problems and develop concrete, quantified improvement initiatives
  • Realize hands-on quick wins and minimize cash bleeding
  • Elaborate a sales strategy to increase revenues and profitability, e.g., by entering new markets, launching new products and executing price adjustments
  • Review customer base and product portfolio and drive rationalization and/or repositioning
  • Set up and manage a local task force involving all relevant stakeholders
  • Take on interim line management roles if required
  • Coach and develop others, capitalizing on the strengths of each team member
Your Profile
  • At least 5 years of experience in Commercial Excellence, esp. of financial analysis and management accounting, incl. P&L analysis, in order to identify and prioritize necessary measures for improvement
  • Completed university degree, preferably within top 10% and / or top tier university
  • Successful track record of consulting and industry experience
  • Evidence of strong career progression
  • Pragmatic and structured approach
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate international teams (preferably in turnaround situations)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset (fast, pragmatic, sustainable) and ability to think “outside the box”
  • Professional communication and presentation of information, adapted to audience
  • Willingness to travel (typically Mo-Thu, across Europe)
  • Fluency in English and one other European language (particularly in German, Spanish, French, Italian)
  • Proven track record of delivering value creation in a Private Equity portfolio company is a plus
