Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, Munich (www.mutares.com), acquires medium-sized companies and parts of groups with headquarters in Europe that are being sold in the course of a repositioning process at their owners and show clear potential for operational improvement. Mutares actively supports and develops its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams as well as through acquisitions of strategic add-ons. Our goal is to acquire companies with a turnover of EUR 50 to 750 million. The aim is to achieve value enhancement with a focus on sustainable, long-term growth of our portfolio companies.

To support the strong development of our Amsterdam office, we are looking for an intern (m/f/d) to join our Investment Team in Amsterdam, starting in Q2/Q3 2024 for a period of 3 to 6 months.

Our Amsterdam office was founded in 2021 and has experienced a strong start, with 3 closed transactions. With a full pipeline for 2024, you can expect to support the team on multiple live transactions. 

Your Tasks

As an intern, you will support the existing investment team with the following tasks:

  • Analyses of teasers and investment memoranda to identify suitable Mutares acquisitions.
  • Assisting with financial modelling:
    • Set up financial reports on a monthly basis
    • Integration of assumptions to reflect the restructuring strategy
    • Normalisation of working capital
    • Analyses of debt and net debt items
    • Prepare valuations to determine true enterprise value
  • Support due diligence:
    • Analyses of virtual data rooms
    • Critical thinking to identify areas of risk
    • Q&A preparation for expert calls
  • Support in the preparation of offer documents
  • Support in document preparation for potential exit transactions
Your Profile
  • A completed Master’s degree or a student in the final phase of their degree
  • Prior internship experience within Private Equity, Investment Banking or Corporate Finance
  • Excellent language skills in Dutch and English
  • Confident handling of MS Office applications (esp. Excel and Power Point)
  • Team player & hands-on, independent thinking
